It’s officially autumn; but you would not know that here on the Peninsula . Currently it is a perfect sunny seventy-eight degrees, and today is actually one of our cooler days this week, so just when I was getting ready to exchange the shorts and flip-flops for thermals and Uggs, in waltz’s our Indian summer.
My sudden impatience for the change of the season is two-fold. One, it is so depressing to only just be getting a sunrise at , especially when I have been up since with no hint that a new day is dawning… I mean hello when will daylight savings time get here! Second, last weekend my husband and I went to Lake Tahoe , where we enjoyed seeing the Aspens in their full fall colors of unreal yellows and reds. They were simply breathtaking and a gorgeous contrast to the redwoods and pines they were sprinkled in amongst, and all weekend the forecast promised the season’s first dusting of snow… but as most forecasts go, we missed out on the snow that came in on Tuesday.
We did enjoy our very crisp mornings and evenings though, and it is no surprise to us, still dressed in our winter attire, doing our grocery shopping for the week on our way home, that last night standing in front of the fridge contemplating what to fix for dinner that our quickest and coolest options were either Chili and Cornbread or Chicken Pot-Pie… seriously… nothing to grill… what were we thinking?!?! Oh well, at least either option will give us a couple of meals each, and can feed an army for cheap, preciously what we need in these tight times leading into the holidays.
Oh S&%T! The holidays are upon us! Well with that note, I think I will call it a day or else I am bound to start thinking too much about all the commitments we have from now until January 2nd 2011. Wow, where on earth did 2010 go?
So, I always like to start and end the day thinking of my blessings. I find it puts me in a better mood and fills me with gratitude for even the little things in life and the day.
So… I will share that with you guys too. The blessing to end today’s note on:
Campaign season is OVER!!! I don’t know where you stand on issues, who and what you voted for or whether you are happy or not with your local and state’s outcome… but you got to admit, it is nice not seeing the ads, signs and flyers, not to mention the obnoxious recorded calls that came in last week during the dinner hour. I am personally thankful, with regards to the campaign season that my step-children are taking an interest in things, and the conversations we are beginning to have on the various subjects, it is very interesting to see things from their perspective.
Well, Happy Friday Eve everyone and I will chat soon!
